In reading a couple of the assessments previously posted, I decided to add a clarification as it appears many folks don't consider these sorts of printers. This is a dye sublimation printer.
What's that imply?
Well, at the beginning, it method it uses dye, now not pigment. The paper is stained. It will not be an inkjet. There is not any ink. There are not any jets. There will no longer behing moist to be sprayed on.
Instead, a roll of film contains an alternating portion of Yellow, Magenta, Cyan and a transparent coat. The roll is much like a fax computing device ribbon. Pass 1 stains all of the places that have to be yellow, be they very light and dim or rich and deep. Pass 2 takes care of including the Magenta dye. Pass three adds the Cyan dye. Bought a Kodak 500 on line. The LCD by no implys labored so I tried prints from my laptop. They had been used to behed out & didn't come close to the Computer LCD display picture, Kodak suggested me to come the unit to New Jersey at my rate, evan though it by no implys worked. The several hours spent on line with thier customer service & 17.00 for frieght had been compensated with a sample movie 10 pack value 2.50 after I complained concerning the return freight. I recieved a substitute unit a couple of month later. It used to be used but "certified" through the repair center. I set it up & it gave a false empty ink pack message which repeatedly pops up, it goes to no longer work from my instantly related pict bridge equipped digital camera & the prints I ran from an inserted SD chip are excellent aside from the beneathside of the photographgraphs are clean with a ragged area. I am now trying to get money back & have been steered to come this unit for restore, ALSO AT MY OWN EXPENSE!! stay clear, Kodak does now not back this stuff for a just right cause.

I bought this printer from Amazon, printed some footage I had on a card. The footage were taken mostly on a Nikon Coolpix S1, though some had been interested via Kodak digital cameras. I then tried printing from my Intel based totally Mac, failed to work. (Note-- call Kodak when you have an Intel Mac and need to print directly, they've a beta driver.) I downloaded a firmware update for the printer, 1.0.4, and after applying that firmware update the printer would now not acknowledge the photographgraphs taken on the Nikon digicam.
I then purchased every other some of these printers from an area store, and pulled the cardboard out of the older/broken printer, inserted into the brand new printer and it may most definitely read/print the entire pictures on the card. Thus proving to me that the firmware update used to be the foundation lead to for my not being ready to print those photos.
The printer would show "Unrecognized file format" on the display when I attempted to view the footage. A Kodak V603 digicam was in a position to view the photographs.
I love the printer for domestic photographs, etc and plan to use it to print footage to send to domestic. Just an FYI for individuals who have this printer and may need to print pictures from a digital camera other than a Kodak. I actually have just a few friends who work at Kodak so I hope to bring this to the attention of the correct folks and get it resolved in a future firmware update. I realize errors do happen, however this one rendered my printer broken to me and I may no longer get the older firmware to downgrade.
